TextExpander 3.4 Adds Help for Group Sharing, "Tweet My Stats"

San Francisco, CA -- December 7, 2011 -- Smile has released TextExpander 3.4, an update to its customizable typing shortcut tool for Mac OS X. With TextExpander, users can define abbreviations for frequently-used text strings and images, also known as snippets. When an abbreviation is typed, it expands automatically to the full snippet.

The update adds a section to the TextExpander help "Sharing Snippet Groups With Your Team," which gives detailed instructions for setting up a common snippet group for multiple users. It also adds a "Tweet My Stats" button to the TextExpander statistics window, so that users can share how much time they've saved using TextExpander. QuickLook support is now available for .textexpander files.

TextExpander retails for $34.95. Family Pack licenses, for home use, are $44.95. Office Pack licenses, which cover 5 users in an office, are $99.95. Upgrades from earlier versions of TextExpander are $15.00, and free to users who purchased after November 1, 2009.

TextExpander 3.4 requires Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or Mac OS X 10.7. A fully-functioning demo is available at http://www.smilesoftware.com/textexpander/download.html. The full version of TextExpander is also available to purchase on Apple's Mac App Store.

- Position the cursor wherever you want in your expanded snippet; use fill-ins for snippets with multiple blank fields for variable content
- For programmers, make editor-independent code templates; invoke AppleScripts and shell scripts
- Available in English, Spanish, German, French, Japanese and Italian
